Responsible Service of Alcohol

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) is a requirement of the WA Liquor Control Act 1988.  All bar staff, managers and licensees must be formally trained. 

It is against the law to:

• Permit drunkenness on the premises
• Serve alcohol to drunk people
• Serve alcohol to anyone under the age of 18
• Allow people who are violent, quarrelsome, disorderly or behaving indecently on licensed premises 

Each licensed venue has its own characteristics and may have additional legal requirements or restrictions regarding to the sale and supply of alcohol.

• It is against the law to help a drunk person obtain or consume alcohol on licensed or regulated premises including penalties. OA 3924
• It is against the law to sell or supply alcohol to a person who is drunk. OA 3925
• It is against the law to sell or supply liquor to a drunk person – speech, balance, coordination or behaviour appears to be noticeably impaired. OA 3926
• It is against the law to sell or supply alcohol to a person who is drunk including penalties. OA 3927
• The sale and supply of liquor to patrons is restricted to table service. OA 3969
• Failure to comply with request to leave premises and vicinity is an offence. Penalty $2,000. OA 3928
• An approved manager is on duty at all times at this venue. OA 3970
• Fines of up to $10,000 for any person who supplies alcohol on licensed premises to anyone under 18 years of age. OA 3971
• It is against the law for us to allow behaviour that is violent, disorderly and/or argumentative. OA 3918
• Potable drinking water is free. OA 3973

ID/Underage  

• It is against the law to show false or misleading ID. OA 3921
• No Photo ID, no entry. Acceptable forms of ID. OA 3923
• If you look under 25 years of age, we will ask you for ID. OA 3972
• It is against the law for juveniles to be in possession of alcohol in a public place. Penalty of $2,000. OA 3919
• It is against the law to allow possession or consumption of liquor by a juvenile on the premises. Penalty of $10,000. OA 3920
• It is against the law for anyone to sell or supply alcohol to a person under 18 years of age. OA 3922
